Introduction
The Department of Library and Information Science was newly established at the integrated Incheon National University in 2010. Library and Information Science is an academic discipline that seeks to identify the means and methods for selecting and collecting the optimal information and knowledge from among a vast amount of information and knowledge, systematically organizing it, and utilizing it conveniently, as well as to apply these methods in practice. It represents the integrated development of the traditional field of library science and the field of information science, which has evolved alongside computers.
Students in the Department of Library and Information Science complete the necessary curriculum, including materials organization, library management, information science, information services, and bibliography, thereby acquiring the sufficient knowledge and skilled techniques required to perform responsible duties in the field. After graduation, they work as information specialists in technical information offices and database development-related fields at national and public libraries, elementary and secondary school libraries, university libraries, corporate research institutes, and media organizations.
