- Center for Science and Culture in Incheon will create a science and culture city that stimulates scientific curiosity in the local community and conducts inquiry activities through the "City of Science, Incheon" project in April
- In cooperation with libraries and related organizations in the basic unit living area, citizen experience programs and science festivals are held throughout Incheon
Center for Science and Culture in Incheon (Hang Ki-soon, head of the center, professor of creative talent development at Incheon National University) announced on the 31st that it will promote the "City of Science, Incheon" project, which runs citizen-participating science experience programs and science festivals throughout Incheon city center for a month to mark Science Month in April.
The "City of Science, Incheon" project is a citizen-feeling science communication platform that meets the core values of the 8th popular election, and aims to communicate with citizens through science and spread science culture together. Accordingly, science experience programs linked to local libraries in the living area will expand science contact points in everyday life through "Science+Library," and science festivals will be operated every Saturday for the month of April in ▲ Bupyeong-gu, ▲ Jung-gu, ▲ Gyeyang-gu, and ▲ Seo-gu.
Marking Science Month, this project provides citizens with an opportunity to easily access and understand science and technology in their daily lives through science and technology culture experience programs centered on aviation, bio, semiconductors, robots, future cars, and digital and data industries, which are strategic industries in Incheon.
In particular, in consideration of the low birth rate and aging society, we plan to prepare science and culture contents that can encompass all generations from infants to the elderly, and to hold a participatory science and culture festival that can be enjoyed and mingled with anyone of all ages.
Through this project, we will overcome the limitations of Incheon, which lacks science and culture infrastructure, and continue to expand opportunities for citizens to experience and enjoy science in their daily lives, said Han Ki-soon, head of the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon.
Center for Science and Culture in Incheon is an organization that implements the "Regional Science and Culture Capacity Building Project" and has been operated by the Incheon National University Institute for Science and Gifted Education (https://www.inuisge.kr/) ) since 2021. Center for Science and Culture in Incheon has carried out cooperation projects with 122 institutions in Incheon Metropolitan City in 2024 and is used by 130,000 Incheon citizens annually.
Center for Science and Culture in Incheon's program is funded by the Science and Technology Promotion Fund and the Lottery Fund, and is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation, contributing to the development of science and technology in Korea and the promotion of welfare for the low-income and underprivileged.
