Professor Sung-Ho Jang of the Department of Bioengineering, School of Biological Sciences at Incheon National University has been awarded the Ministerial Commendation for Contributions to Science and Technology Promotion as part of the 2025 Science Day government awards.

Professor Jang was highly recognized for his contributions to the development of RNA biosensors based on synthetic biology, technology transfer to pharmaceutical companies, training of professionals in the field of science and technology, and science education for youth. In recognition of these achievements, he has received the commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT.

Professor Jang leads the Synthetic Biology and Directed Evolution Engineering Laboratory (https://www.sjanglab.org), where he conducts pioneering research in synthetic biology, microbiome, gene therapy, and metabolic engineering. He is also actively engaged in joint research with biotechnology companies, developing cutting-edge technologies in the fields of synthetic biology and gene therapeutics.
