- Full-scale implementation of generative AI pilot project… Driving innovation in faculty research and education
- Generative AI introduced into university research and education… From paper writing to lecture materials
- Security guidelines to be provided to participating faculty… Best-practice contest also planned
Incheon National University announced on the 20th that, with the launch of its 4th university corporation leadership, it will implement a six-month pilot support project starting in July to innovatively support faculty research and educational activities through the use of AI services such as ChatGPT Team.
This project is designed with the goals of: ▲establishing a foundation for faculty use of generative AI ▲discovering and disseminating exemplary use cases ▲raising awareness of research ethics ▲improving research productivity. License fees for tools like ChatGPT Team will be supported for approximately 500 full-time faculty members.
Despite concerns that generative AI tools may pose serious challenges to research ethics, they are gaining attention for their potential to significantly enhance faculty capabilities in research and education, including assistance in academic writing and instructional material development.
Accordingly, the university plans to distribute security guidelines and checklists necessary for generative AI use to participating faculty, along with providing shared resources and training on ethical AI usage to encourage safe and appropriate adoption. Additionally, in January 2026, the university will host a best-practice contest on generative AI usage, awarding top and outstanding entries, and sharing excellent use cases with other faculty members to promote broader knowledge sharing and adoption.
A university official stated, “Rather than indiscriminate use of AI tools, what is needed now is responsible and creative utilization,” and added, “We hope this pilot project will enhance faculty digital literacy and ultimately lead to strengthened research capacity.”
