The INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education (Director: Professor Kisoon Han, Department of Creative Human Resource Development) successfully held the "2025 Entrance Ceremony and Orientation of the INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education" on Saturday, April 26, at Incheon National University’s Songdo Campus, with two separate sessions held in the morning and afternoon for approximately 1,000 elementary school students. Classes at the Cyber Gifted Education Center officially began on May 1.

This entrance ceremony was hosted by the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education and organized by the INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education. Incheon National University President Jong-Tae Park and Incheon Metropolitan City Superintendent Seong-Hoon Do delivered welcome and congratulatory remarks, respectively. Education office officials, students, and parents were also in attendance, totaling over 1,000 participants.

The event was held in separate sessions for lower and upper elementary grade students. It began with a cheer performance by INU’s cheerleading team, Couplions, followed by a special lecture titled “Beginning with Questions, Completed through Convergence.” Additionally, experiential classes designed to enhance creativity and scientific thinking were held under the themes: “Designing Creative Structures Beyond What You See” and “The Secret Notebook of the Science Detective Squad.”

President Jong-Tae Park of Incheon National University welcomed the students and said, “In the future society, creative competencies for problem-solving will be essential. Through the nation’s highest-level cyber gifted education system, we will provide a challenging and creative learning environment so students can fully realize their creative potential.”

Superintendent Seong-Hoon Do of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education congratulated the students on their entrance and course commencement, stating, “Being gifted is not just about intelligence; it is about communicating with the world, identifying problems, and solving them creatively. Through observation, questioning, exploration, and action-based learning, students will develop self-directed learning capacity and creative thinking. I hope your time at the INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education becomes a valuable turning point in your life.”

Director Kisoon Han of the INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education said, “Those who are full of curiosity, those who ask many questions—these are the people who have led our society and humanity. I hope this program inspires students to have even more questions and curiosity.”

The INU Institute for Science-Gifted Education provides a future-oriented educational environment suited for the AI digital transformation era and serves as an institution to discover creative talent at an early stage. It is the first in the country to provide open gifted education opportunities to all elementary school grades and contributes to closing the education gap by offering priority admission and tuition support to socially disadvantaged students.

The institute operates a self-directed gifted education program based on a creative thinking process, with theme-based curricula by grade. In 2025, the themes are as follows:
1st Grade – “Discovery and Exploration of Myself”
2nd Grade – “Discovery and Exploration of Nature”
3rd Grade – “Exploration of Time and Space to Expand Imagination”
4th Grade – “Developing My Own Creativity”
5th Grade – “Speak What You Wish”
6th Grade – “For Our Shared Earth”

Starting in May, the center runs regular education programs across the first semester, camp, and second semester. Upper-grade students complete 100 class hours per year, while lower-grade students complete 80. Students who attend more than 80% of the program will have their participation officially recorded in their school records.
